St Vincent's Foundation
St Vincent’s Hospital was built on the generosity of our community. When it opened in 1893, the hospital was financed entirely through charitable donations. It expanded dramatically in the early 1900s thanks again to the great generosity of Melbournians.
Over 100 years later, that great tradition of giving and support continues – enabling the hospital to meet the immediate needs of patients and facilitating amazing new developments like our new Cancer Centre.
St Vincent’s Foundation plays a key role in developing, organising and coordinating fundraising activities for hospital. It links the hospital to community members and groups, corporate supporters and sponsors, external trusts and foundations, and those wishing to leave a legacy or gift in their Will. Each year gifts from the community and special events assist St Vincent's to provide the highest quality in patient health care and facilities, the latest in medical technology, teaching and training of healthcare professionals, support of those most vulnerable in the community.
